# KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza takes mental health hiatus

Sophia Laforteza, leader of global girl group KATSEYE, is temporarily stepping away from promotions to focus on her mental health, HYBE and Geffen announced on Friday. The joint statement said medical professionals advised extended rest and ongoing care. Laforteza called the decision heartbreaking on Instagram but said health must come first. Her condition will be reassessed in September. She is the second KATSEYE member to take a mental health hiatus, after Manon Bannerman in February. The break comes ahead of the group's documentary premiere and EP release. KATSEYE will still perform at the 88rising Head in the Clouds festival on August 8 and make their Tonight Show debut on August 12.
