# Kay Kay Menon is internet’s top pick for Tukaram Mundhe biopic 2026-08-21T14:03:28+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Social media users have overwhelmingly chosen Kay Kay Menon over Akshay Kumar to play IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe in a proposed biopic. The discussion began after filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma tweeted that he would make a film on Mundhe, the Maharashtra cadre officer known for his tough stance against corruption and encroachments during his postings. Users argued that Menon's restrained acting style and intensity make him a better fit for the role than Akshay Kumar. Many pointed to Menon's ability to portray authoritative characters without melodrama. Mundhe, who gained fame as a municipal commissioner, was recently transferred from Navi Mumbai and remains a polarising figure in Maharashtra. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The casting debate reveals how the public perceives IAS officers as symbols of bureaucratic integrity, often elevating them to folk-hero status. Tukaram Mundhe's career is marked by high-profile transfers amid political pressure, a pattern seen with other reformist officers like Durga Shakti Nagpal. The real test for any biopic will be navigating the legal risks: defamation suits from those named in Mundhe's anti-encroachment drives could stall production. Next, watch whether RGV files a court petition or approaches Menon with an official offer. ## Coverage - ndtv.com Leads with celebrity name clash rather than Mundhe's career or policy impact This story was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
