# Government rejects claims of ethanol blending beyond E20

A political clash has erupted over India’s ethanol policy. Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the Centre plans to blend ethanol in diesel and aviation turbine fuel, and eventually raise petrol blending beyond E20, possibly above 50%. He urged people to delay buying new petrol and diesel vehicles. BJP IT head Amit Malviya called the claims fake news and said no decision had been taken beyond the existing E20 programme. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu separately said there was no proposal to blend ethanol with aviation fuel, calling the claim false and irresponsible. The AAP has also alleged that E20 harms vehicles and raises consumer costs.
