The Kerala High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation challenging the restriction on men's entry at the 'Freedom at Midnight' event in Thiruvananthapuram. The court said the petitioner relied on unverified press reports and did not approach authorities first. The event, organised by the Women and Child Development Department, is a free-entry women-only programme from 10 p.m. on August 14 to 1 a.m. on August 15 along MG Road. The WCD informed the court that men's use of the premises and transport through the area would not be impeded.
