Kerala Police have launched a state-wide crackdown, 'Operation Grip', after history-sheeter Arjun Ayanki issued threats against officers. State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said the drive began on Saturday and targets criminal networks, gangsters, and their associates. Police apprehended 55 people by 10 pm that night. Ayanki, who faces 23 criminal cases, was arrested on Sunday from Kannur. ADGP P Vijayan said the operation was a response to Ayanki's challenge and aims to ensure a peaceful Onam season.
