The girl, Divya from Ambedkar Nagar, had been passing stool through an extra opening below the vaginal opening since birth while also passing stool normally, according to a release shared by the hospital on Friday. A team led by paediatric surgeon Prof Anand Pandey diagnosed the rare condition, confirmed by CT scan, and performed a three-hour surgery to separate the duplicated colon from the normal colon and join them into a common channel. The child is now healthy and no longer uses the abnormal opening.
