Karnataka home minister Priyank Kharge on Thursday questioned why the RSS flew its Bhagwa Dhwaj instead of the tricolour at its Nagpur headquarters for over five decades after Independence. In a post on X, he said the BJP-led 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign should begin at the RSS headquarters. The tricolour was officially hoisted there only in 2002, he said. Separately, NCP (SP) leader Jayant Tapase accused the BJP-RSS of 'theatrics' over Tiranga Yatras and cited the organisation's absence from the freedom struggle. The ruling party has organised flag rallies across the country ahead of Independence Day, drawing opposition criticism over the use of nationalist symbolism.
