Krishnakumar died in January 2025, The Hindu reports. The Kerala government had begun recruitment, but the process remains incomplete despite a change in administration. K.G. Sajeeth Kumar held additional charge for about five months. V.P. Jithu, head of psychiatry, is now handling the responsibility. IMHANS serves patients from nearly all districts in north Kerala through outpatient care, an autism clinic, community mental health programmes, child development services and rehabilitation projects. It also runs postgraduate courses in psychiatric social work and clinical psychology, along with a diploma in psychiatric nursing. The staff association has proposed T.M. Shibu Kumar for the director’s post.
