# KTU suspends yearback system for BTech fifth semester

Kerala Technological University (KTU) has temporarily rolled back the yearback system for BTech students entering the fifth semester. Higher Education Minister Roji M John announced the decision on August 12 after the new KTU syndicate met for the first time. The rule had required students to secure a minimum number of credits in the first two semesters to progress. The minister said the reversal followed protests by thousands of students from the 2024 batch. The previous government's Board of Governors had introduced the system in 2024.
