Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday inaugurated Leh's first international-level artificial ice hockey rink at NDS Stadium and an indoor shooting range at the district police line. The Rs 42-crore rink, equipped with 24x7 chilling, will allow year-round training, overcoming the region's short natural ice season of two to three months. The indoor shooting range, developed with the Ladakh Shooting Association, will serve police personnel and the public. A multi-purpose hall for sports like badminton and wrestling was also opened. Saxena said the facilities align with the centre's vision of making India a global sports hub and strengthening police capacity.
