# Lok Sabha passes Bill setting up National Tribunals Commission

The Lok Sabha passed the National Tribunals Commission Bill by voice vote on Thursday amid opposition protests, NDTV reports. The Bill creates a Commission to oversee appointments, discipline and removal of members for 16 tribunals, including the NCLAT, SAT, ITAT, NGT, CAT and others. Headquartered in Delhi, the Commission will have a chairperson (former Supreme Court judge or High Court chief justice), two judicial members (former High Court judges) and two technical members (at least 25 years of experience). The Central government appoints them after consulting the Chief Justice of India for judicial posts. The estimated annual expenditure is Rs 27.14 crore.
