Lupin posted a 33.3% year-on-year sales jump to ₹8,217 crore in Q1 FY27, with EBITDA rising 42.8% to ₹2,580 crore and profit after tax up 16% to ₹1,417 crore. The company attributed the strong start to robust growth across the US, India, other developed markets and emerging markets, along with continued profitability improvement. The results come amid a broader shift in the pharma sector. According to The Hindu Business Line, Sun Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories showed divergent performances. Sun Pharma’s sales rose 10% to ₹15,184 crore, driven by India formulations and innovative medicines, while its US formulations fell 9.7%. Aurobindo posted 16.3% revenue growth to ₹9,150 crore. Dr Reddy’s, however, saw revenue drop 5.6% to ₹8,071 crore and profit plunge 69% due to lack of lenalidomide sales and a ₹240-crore semaglutide provision. The Business Line notes that domestic branded formulations, innovative medicines and emerging markets are increasingly cushioning Indian drugmakers against US market volatility.
