The Amrit Mitra programme began in Indore on July 29 and was launched in Bhopal on Wednesday, the Free Press Journal reports. The first phase is training 30 women in Indore and 36 in Bhopal at government Industrial Training Institutes. Lessons cover plumbing, pipeline repairs, leak detection, safety, quality control and field records. The project aims to cut water losses and improve supply efficiency. Officials said similar programmes could be taken up elsewhere.
