Akshaye Khanna has been unveiled as Shukracharya in the first glimpse of 'Mahakali', the female-led superhero film from the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. The 2-minute-55-second glimpse, titled 'Shukracharya's WarCry', depicts a cosmic conflict between Dharma and Adharma, with Khanna appearing in an intense unrecognisable avatar as the guru of the Asuras. Bhoomi Shetty plays Mahakali, and the final shot shows her with multiple arms feeding a baby. The film marks the directorial debut of Puja Aparna Kolluru under RKD Studios. Netflix has already secured the OTT rights ahead of theatrical release. 'Mahakali' is set for worldwide release on January 8, 2027, in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam across premium formats including IMAX 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX and ScreenX. The ensemble cast includes Sriya Reddy, Rohit Saraf, Khushbu Sundar and Samuthirakani.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

All four sources report the same facts: Akshaye Khanna's fierce look as Shukracharya, the January 8, 2027 release date across multiple languages and premium formats, and a Netflix OTT deal secured early. The coverage is uniform straight reporting with no discernible editorial slant. The unanimous emphasis on scale, visual effects and goosebump-inducing frames suggests the promotional machinery is working as intended. The key number to watch is whether Mahakali can match HanuMan's box office: the PVCU benchmark awaits.
