# Two IIT Bombay Hostel Canteens Shut by Food Regulator

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has shut two hostel canteens at IIT Bombay in Powai for operating without valid food licences. Inspections of Mess No. 1 and Mess No. 3 revealed they lacked the mandatory registration under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The FDA acted after receiving a complaint. The caterer was told to stop operations immediately. In a separate enforcement drive, the FDA suspended the licence of Eat Nino (Nino's Burger) in Dadar over poor hygiene, insect infestation, and missing training records. Between August 4 and 6, the regulator inspected 63 restaurants, issued notices to 38, and suspended licences of seven, including outlets in Andheri, Santacruz, Kurla, and Navi Mumbai.
