German auto components maker Mahle plans to invest more than $30 million a year in India and double its domestic business to $1 billion within five years, ET Auto reports. The company says India has shifted from stop-start growth to a steadier expansion pattern. Mahle is using India to introduce some technologies before other markets, including a battery electric vehicle thermal management system deployed in Mahindra electric SUVs. It is also investing in electrification, thermal management and fluid systems, while developing range extenders and motors that avoid heavy rare earth materials. Mahle supplies electric drive systems to Indian electric two-wheeler makers and is discussing solutions with commercial vehicle manufacturers. It is also assessing exports from India.
