Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's car was attacked with stones, mud and slippers in Halisahar on Sunday while she was visiting the family of Birju Keot, a TMC worker who allegedly died in police custody. TMC MPs Kalyan Banerjee and Dola Sen accused the BJP of orchestrating the attack and called it an attempt to murder. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari denied any BJP involvement, saying no party flags or known faces were seen at the site. He questioned why Banerjee did not inform police about her visit and said the victim's family was satisfied with the administration. Banerjee alleged police remained silent spectators and that she could have been killed if the car window had been open.
