A week-old Malayalam film, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit (BKU) starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, is outselling Yash's much-hyped pan-Indian release Toxic in hourly ticket sales on BookMyShow. At time of writing, BKU recorded over 28,000 hourly sales against Toxic's 22,000. Both films have crossed Rs 100 crore gross, but BKU overtaking a major new release has surprised the trade. While Toxic is expected to command larger overall numbers given its scale and pre-release hype, BKU continues to show strong momentum. The daily box-office figures will indicate whether the trend holds as the weekend approaches.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit (BKU) is a small-budget Malayalam family comedy, while Toxic is a big-budget Kannada action film starring Yash, whose 2022 blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2 grossed over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. The daily ticket-sales tracker on BookMyShow reflects real-time demand but not actual revenue, as prices vary by screen. Nivin Pauly, who debuted as a lead in 2012, has seen a recent career revival after a string of average performances. The box-office trade will watch whether BKU can sustain its lead into the weekend, when Toxic's advance bookings typically peak.
