# Mammootty wins Entertainer of Year, Mohanlal presents award 2026-08-18T15:08:07+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet (2 source reports) Mammootty won the Entertainer of the Year, Actor award at the Mazhavil Entertainment Awards 2026 for his performances in 'Kalamkaval' and 'Patriot'. Mohanlal presented the award, marking a reunion of Malayalam cinema's two biggest stars. The duo last appeared together at the same event in 2024. Mohanlal was also honoured for his Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and Mammootty for his fourth National Film Award and Padma Bhushan. Balachandra Menon received the Ultimate Entertainer Award. 'Vaazha 2' won Best Picture, and 'Drishyam 3' won Best Sequel. The star-studded event was hosted by Suraj Venjaramoodu and featured dance performances by Navya Nair and others. The awards will be telecast on Mazhavil Manorama and ManoramaMAX on August 22 and 23 at 7 pm. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The two sources, though from the same outlet, frame the event differently. The first promo-focussed piece leads with the emotional reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal, highlighting Mohanlal touching Mammootty's feet. The second, results-focussed piece leads with Mammootty winning Entertainer of the Year. The first overstates the reunion as the biggest highlight, the second underplays it, mentioning it only in passing. A careful reader sees both as accurate but chooses emphasis. The coverage is uniform straight reporting with no discernible slant, so the key takeaway is that Mazhavil Manorama manages its own promotion and news coverage seamlessly. The awards telecast on August 22 and 23 will test audience reception. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - onmanorama.com (neutral report) Leads with reunion as show stealer, awards as secondary detail - onmanorama.com (2) (neutral report) Leads with awards and winners, reunion mentioned as one highlight This story was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above.
