He had arrived around 1.30pm with his brother and two friends. Despite a rescue by the CIDCO fire brigade, heavy rain and strong currents delayed the search. Firefighters found him trapped in a rocky crevice at a depth of 10 to 12 feet. He was pulled out, rushed to hospital, and declared dead on arrival. The Kharghar police registered an accidental death report. This was the third drowning at the spot this monsoon, according to the Free Press Journal. The rescue team included fire officer Prashant Darekar and firemen Suraj Patil, Pritam Patil, Chetan Pawar and Kaustubh Vaydande.
