Rishikesh Kumar allegedly did this to secure bail for his relative Priyanshu Bole, arrested in a stabbing case. Villagers spotted Kumar and three others late on Friday night and caught him after the others fled. Police recovered a fish, lemons, vermilion, and photos of the chief justice, the accused, and the victim. Kumar told police he had watched a video of a tantric promising the ritual would help get bail. Superintendent of police Rajnesh Singh warned that strict action would be taken and said bail cannot be obtained through rituals. He urged criminals to reform themselves.
