A man was killed and his wife and two children injured after a speeding container lorry struck them on the National Highway (NH-65) near Inamguda Village, Abdullapurmet on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kunchapu Srinivas, 48, a labourer and resident of Yashoda Nagar in Inamguda village. According to the police, Srinivas, along with his wife Kunchapu Laxmi, 39, and their children – Rajeshwari, 19, and Rambabu, 17, had gone to Keesara along with relatives earlier in the day. On their return, they were dropped near the petrol bunk in Inamguda at around 7:30 p.m..
While crossing the highway near the petrol bunk, an unidentified lorry container ran them over, killing Srinivas on the spot. His wife sustained bleeding injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their son also sustained minor injuries, the police said.
Srinivas’s body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case was booked by the Abdullapurmet police, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver. The lorry was seized from the spot.
