# Maruti Suzuki posts record 2.48 lakh unit production in July

Maruti Suzuki India produced 2,48,845 vehicles in July 2026, its highest ever monthly output, a 33% jump from 1,87,073 units a year ago. The previous record was 2,31,933 units in March 2026. Despite the record, the company said dealer inventory stands at just 16 days, well below the industry average of 30 days, with retail sales of 1.78 lakh units and pending bookings of around 1.6 lakh units. Separately, Chairman R C Bhargava said the small-car market will grow faster over the next five years and the overall passenger vehicle industry could reach 6.1-6.3 million units by FY2031. The company plans to introduce seven new SUVs in five to six years and invest Rs 561 crore in four biogas plants under the government's GOBARdhan scheme. Maruti Suzuki's total manufacturing capacity has risen to 29 lakh units per annum.
