Currently only 65% of the city has UGD coverage; the rest lacks it altogether. The commissioner said Rs 1,250 crore is needed to cover the entire city, an amount the MCC cannot raise on its own. Meetings are planned with ministers, MLAs, and Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta. A cabinet meeting expected in Mangaluru will be used to press the demand.
