Speaking in Shillong, he credited improvements in roads, agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism and sports to government programmes and Centre support. Sangma said 63,000 hectares of natural forest had been brought under conservation, while more than 25,000 farmers were receiving support for high-value crops. He also cited 3,200 km of roads built in eight years, falling maternal and infant deaths, higher school pass rates, and about 35,000 direct and indirect jobs linked to entrepreneurship schemes.
