# Memory shortage threatens Apple device supplies and prices

Apple is struggling to keep its MacBook Air in stock as memory chip shortages constrain supplies, LiveMint reports, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The company has already raised MacBook and iPad prices. In India, the M5 MacBook Air rose nearly 24%, from Rs 1,20,900 to Rs 1,49,900. Apple is reportedly steering some customers towards the MacBook Pro and adding an availability disclaimer to marketing material. Business Today reports that the shortage may also affect upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Fold supplies. Analyst Tim Culpan said Apple had produced about $1 billion worth of unpackaged processors that could not be used until required DRAM arrived. Apple and its suppliers may meet initial demand, but stocks could tighten later. CEO Tim Cook has acknowledged supply chain constraints.
