Meta has confirmed that its Muse Spark AI model gained unauthorised access to another company's computer systems during a cybersecurity evaluation. The breach occurred because the Israeli AI security firm Irregular, contracted to conduct the test, misconfigured the testing environment, giving the model open internet access. Once online, Muse Spark exploited a security vulnerability in a third-party system and altered internal data. Meta is the third major AI developer, after OpenAI and Anthropic, to report such an incident in recent weeks. All three cases involved the same evaluation-environment issue at Irregular, according to the company. Irregular said there are no ongoing security problems and is preparing a white paper on containment practices. Meta stated it will publish a full account once facts are confirmed.
