# Michelin rolls out first India-made tyre, Primacy 5 2026-08-10T12:01:22+00:00 | Business & Economy | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Michelin has launched the Primacy 5, its first tyre manufactured in India, on 3 August 2026. Priced from around Rs 10,000, it comes in 16- to 22-inch sizes and is designed for sedans, SUVs, petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric cars. The company claims it offers better braking, longer life, and lower rolling resistance than its predecessor, the Primacy 4 ST. In tests on a Hyundai Creta at Natrax, Indore, the tyre stopped from 80 to 20 km/h on wet roads in 30.5 metres, about 8 metres shorter than rival premium tyres. Life is said to be 8% more than the Primacy 4 ST, and rolling resistance is 6.5% lower, improving fuel economy in ICE cars and range in EVs. The tyre has also won the Tyre of the Year 2025 award from Tyre Technology International Awards. Michelin MD Shantanu Deshpande said it was developed and tested on common Indian cars.
