# Mirzapur success won’t affect original stories, says Sheeba Chaddha 2026-10-01T02:31:33+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Actor Sheeba Chaddha has said the box office success of Mirzapur: The Movie should not deter filmmakers from backing original stories. In an interview with Cinema Express published on 30 September, she said: 'I don't think Mirzapur’s success should have an impact on other things. There is always a place for a good story.' Her comments come as 2026 has seen franchise films outperform original releases. Chaddha stars in Bakaiti season 2, which premiered on 25 September, and will appear as Manthara in the upcoming film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. She praised director Nitesh Tiwari for his clarity. The actor began her film career in the late 1990s and said the 2015 film Dum Lagaa Ke Haisha was a turning point for her, leading to more nuanced roles. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The coverage from Cinema Express and Hindustan Times treats the same beat, actors promoting their work, without any political or ideological slant. Cinema Express leads with Chaddha's defence of original storytelling against franchise dominance, while Hindustan Times leads with Harshita Gaur's experience of playing contrasting roles and her praise for co-stars. Both are neutral, personality-driven interviews that neither challenge nor endorse any government or institutional position. The uniform framing suggests no editorial stance beyond standard entertainment reporting.
