Modha Rathiri, directed by debutant Raja Karuppasamy, has received positive reviews for its writing, ensemble comedy and emotional moments. OnlyKollywood describes the film as an enjoyable wedding comedy about Marudhu, who discovers on his wedding night that Muthuselvi loves another man. It praises Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar, while rating the film 3.25 out of 5. The New Indian Express rates Modha Rathri 3.5 out of 5 and says its slow-building wedding drama becomes thoroughly enjoyable. It praises the setup and payoff of several subplots, including those involving relatives, friends and wedding bed manufacturers. Both reviews say the film addresses family pressure, marriage expectations, class, status and caste attitudes through its comedy. They also identify a slow or shaky first half and some shortcomings in the film’s length and character clarity.

## Indian Opinion Analysis

Both reviews are broadly positive, but they place emphasis differently. OnlyKollywood foregrounds the film’s lively atmosphere, performances and grounded technical work, while The New Indian Express gives more weight to the writing mechanics, subplot construction and social messaging. The first review treats caste and family pressure as an added layer, whereas the second examines how the final-act revelations complicate the film’s earlier treatment of caste discrimination. Together, the coverage suggests a comedy that succeeds through its ensemble and structure but is less consistent in pace and narrative clarity. The ratings to watch are 3.25 out of 5 and 3.5 out of 5.
