Speaking from the Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi said the government had already exceeded its earlier target of three crore women. The Lakhpati Didi initiative, run under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, National Rural Livelihoods Mission, seeks to help women in Self-Help Groups earn a sustainable annual household income of at least Rs 1 lakh.
