Etsy will cut about 220 jobs, or nearly 12% of its workforce, as it reorganises product and engineering teams, Times Now reports, citing Reuters. CEO Kruti Patel Goyal said the move was not driven by artificial intelligence or a cost-cutting target. Affected employees will receive at least 16 weeks’ severance and up to 12 months of healthcare coverage. Etsy also approved a share buyback programme worth up to $2 billion. More than 40 companies have announced job cuts in 2026, according to Hindustan Times, citing Business Insider. Amazon, Meta, UPS, Walmart, Citi and Dell are among them. The reasons include restructuring, weaker demand, cost pressures and AI-led changes. More than 100 US WARN notices also point to possible further cuts, though some relate to previously announced layoffs. A World Economic Forum survey found 41% of companies expect AI to reduce jobs over the next five years.
