# MP textbook body may handle non-book school procurement

Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation may soon procure sports equipment, kitchen materials and furniture for government schools, moving beyond its core textbook mandate. The School Education Department is considering changes to store purchase rules to formalise this expanded role. The corporation currently prints and supplies about 10 crore free textbooks for Classes 1 to 12. However, School Education Secretary Sanjay Goyal denied any such decision has been taken. The corporation's original mandate covers textbook production, stocking and distribution, plus research and advisory work on curriculum and educational aids.
