# Mumbai Indians social media post fuels Hardik Pandya trade rumours 2026-08-20T08:03:45+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Mumbai Indians have posted pictures of captain Hardik Pandya on Instagram with the caption 'Memo: Make it HP coded', sparking intense speculation about his IPL future ahead of IPL 2027. Multiple reports say the franchise is looking to trade the all-rounder, with Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders reportedly interested in a deal. The 32-year-old started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2015, left for Gujarat Titans in 2022, led them to the title, and returned to MI as captain in 2024. Mumbai finished bottom of IPL 2024, reached Qualifier 2 in 2025, and ended ninth in IPL 2026. The Indian Express reported that a potential return to Gujarat Titans was rejected after Pandya demanded the captaincy. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has called for full transparency in player trades, writing in Mid-Day that the financial numbers of trades should be made public to maintain the IPL's reputation. The trade window remains open. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both sources report the same basic facts, MI's social media post and the trade rumours, but frame the uncertainty differently. NDTV Sports leads with the post as triggering the rumour, while Rediff leads with the trade speculation as already established, treating the post as a twist. Neither outlet takes a pro or anti-government stance, as this is a purely commercial sports story. The measured takeaway: fan reactions online are not a decision, and no franchise has confirmed any trade. The next concrete event to watch is the closing of the IPL trade window. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - sports.ndtv.com (neutral report) Straight news report on the social media post and Gavaskar's comments, no editorialising. - rediff.com (neutral report) Covers the same facts with more detail on fan reactions and the Indian Express report, no slant.
