# Mumbai ranks 15th globally in live data centre capacity

Mumbai has 774 MW of operational data centre capacity, ranking 15th worldwide, while Hyderabad ranks 27th with 151 MW, Knight Frank said in its Global Data Centre Atlas 2026. Mumbai also has nearly 5 GW in its development pipeline and Hyderabad more than 2.2 GW. Mumbai ranks 11th globally and Hyderabad 19th on future pipeline capacity. Separately, Axis Capital estimates India’s total capacity could reach 3 to 3.6 GW by 2030, from 1.3 to 1.4 GW now. It puts likely operational capacity near 2.8 GW, below publicly announced targets of 6 to 8 GW. Hyperscalers could account for 90 per cent of demand by 2030, but power, equipment and construction delays remain constraints.
