# Mumbai Retains 10% Water Cut Despite Reservoirs Reaching 88.93%

Mumbai’s civic body will continue a 10% water cut despite the seven reservoirs supplying the city holding about 12.87 lakh million litres, or 88.93%, of usable water. The restriction began in May after storage fell below 8%. The BMC says current reserves can meet demand until May 2027, but wants enough water until August 2027 before restoring full supply. Four reservoirs are full, while Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna and Bhatsa are 78.83%, 92.37% and 86.64% full. Officials will review the cut after the second half of the monsoon and want all reservoirs to overflow first.
