One in three Gen Z travellers in India now prefers a music festival over a conventional holiday, according to a report by backpacker hostel chain Zostel. Music-led trips have grown four to five times year-on-year, and now account for 30 per cent of the experiential portfolio of Zo Trips, the company's travel vertical. Fifty-five per cent of music festival travellers are aged 21, 28, and 80 per cent book solo. The Ziro Festival in Arunachal Pradesh has seen bookings grow seven to eight times year-on-year, while the Cherry Blossom Festival in Meghalaya is projected to triple its bookings for the 2026 edition. The average festival trip lasts five to eight nights, with travellers combining the event with local sightseeing.
