# Mysuru MP seeks Centre nod for global tourism mission

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar met Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to seek Mysuru's inclusion under the National Mission for the Development of 50 Globally Competitive Tourist Destinations, announced in the Union Budget 2025-26. He submitted a proposal highlighting the city's rich heritage, Mysore Palace, UNESCO-recognised Dasara festival, yoga and wellness centres, and connectivity as strengths. Yaduveer said inclusion would improve infrastructure, conserve heritage, promote sustainable tourism, and attract investment. He urged the Karnataka Tourism Department to prepare a competitive proposal. He expressed confidence the Centre would positively consider the request, which he said would boost employment, local artisans, small businesses, and livelihoods of thousands dependent on tourism.
