# Nadda Promises Centre Support For Flood-Hit Northeast States

Union health minister JP Nadda has assured central support for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction after visiting disaster-hit areas in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, according to two reports. Hindustan Times says he met families in Mon, where landslides and flash floods killed 11 people, destroyed more than 800 houses and damaged 1,079 others. Two people remain missing. Assam Tribune reports that Nadda visited Possa village and a NEEPCO colony in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district on August 6. The state has recorded eight deaths, with 1,55,858 people affected across 28 districts. Damage includes 235 roads, 40 bridges, 41 schools and 373 water supply systems. The reports concern separate visits and give different casualty figures for the two states.
