# Nadda to lay stone of ICMR high-altitude health centre in Keylong 2026-10-11T12:36:19+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda will on Monday, 5 October 2026, lay the foundation stone of the ICMR Centre for High Altitude Medicine and Public Health Research (ICMR-CHAMP) in Keylong, Lahaul-Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Sunday, 11 October 2026. The centre, established by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), will focus on public health challenges from high altitude, extreme weather, difficult terrain and climate variability. Its research will cover high-altitude physiology, climate-sensitive diseases, maternal and child health, nutrition, mental health, and disaster medicine. The centre will explore digital health, telemedicine and drone-enabled logistics for remote areas. The ceremony will be attended by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both The Hans India and The Economic Times provide neutral-report coverage, nearly identical in facts and framing. The Hans India adds detail on the ceremony attendees, including Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Seth, which The Economic Times omits. The Economic Times emphasises institutional collaboration with the Armed Forces Medical Services, a point absent from The Hans India. The uniform reporting reflects a standard government announcement, with no critical or opposing frame. The centre's opening for long-term field studies on tribal and high-altitude populations is the concrete next step both outlets name. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - thehansindia.com (neutral report) Straight announcement, adds attendee list. - economictimes.indiatimes.com (neutral report) Straight announcement, adds military collaboration.
