# Nagaland wins Golden Beaver Award at Canada film festival 2026-10-19T20:36:26+00:00 | World & Diplomacy | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Nagaland made a strong impression at the 12th edition of the India Film Festival of Alberta (IFFA) in Canada, winning the Golden Beaver Award for outstanding contribution to arts, culture and music. The award was presented on 10 October 2026 at the festival's inauguration and received on behalf of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio by Theja Meru, Chairman of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA). A highlight was the performance by the Nagaland Folkloric Group, led by Seyievinuo Chuzo, which received a standing ovation at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Vancouver on 7 October. The delegation also held a cultural exchange with Powwow Times from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation and was received by the Edmonton City Council. Both reports note that the visit strengthens cultural and people-to-people ties between Nagaland, Canada and the Indian diaspora. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both outlets report the same facts in nearly identical language, indicating that both worked from a shared press release or official account. Neither adds independent reporting or critical framing. The uniform coverage means the only stance difference is absent: no outlet questions the event's significance or the award's criteria. A reader can rely on the factual account but should note that no independent verification of the delegation's impact or audience reception is offered beyond the organisers' statements. The concrete outcome is the award itself, conferred on 10 October 2026. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - morungexpress.com (neutral report) Straight news reporting on delegation activities, no framing slant. - nagalandpost.com (neutral report) Straight news reporting on delegation activities, no framing slant.
