# Namit Malhotra in advanced talks to back Brahmastra 2: report 2026-08-27T10:31:36+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Producer Namit Malhotra is in advanced talks to come on board as a studio partner for Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra 2, according to a Bollywood Hungama report. Prime Focus, Malhotra's company, was already a producer on the 2022 film and has worked on the upcoming Ramayana. Earlier, Mukerji held discussions with Jio Studios, which backed out, and with Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films, which did not lead to a deal. The franchise is VFX-heavy, making Malhotra a natural fit, the report said. Nothing has been finalised yet. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The Brahmastra franchise sits at a critical juncture after its first film grossed over Rs 425 crore worldwide in 2022 but drew mixed reviews for its dialogue and pacing. Ayan Mukerji's ambitious three-part plan was always contingent on the second film securing a strong studio partner, and Jio Studios walking away suggests cost or creative disagreements remain unresolved. Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus already handled the VFX for the first film and recently completed work on Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, which is among the most expensive Indian productions ever. With VFX being the single largest cost centre for Brahmastra 2, a co-production that bundles the visual-effects house into the deal could structurally lower the budget. The next signal will be whether this advanced talk converts into a formal announcement before the planned production start later this year. ## Coverage - 123telugu.com Leads with exclusive report from a trade source, presents the development as possible but not final.
