# Nayara Energy supplies petrol to Russia for first time

Russia has imported petrol from India for the first time, after Ukrainian drone strikes crippled its refineries and caused fuel queues in Moscow. The first cargo of about 42,000 tonnes, refined by Nayara Energy at its Vadinar plant in Gujarat, arrived on August 5. A second shipment of nearly 40,000 tonnes followed. Nayara, backed by Russian state giant Rosneft, has not confirmed the sales. Petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri said Indian companies are not directly supplying Russia, but conceded global traders could have bought Indian fuel and resold it.
