Basoya, 50, arrived at Delhi airport on Friday and was taken into custody. He had been arrested in the UAE in June this year on an Interpol Red Notice requested by the NCB. Basoya's name first emerged in a February 2024 Pune drug case where over 1,800 kg of mephedrone was seized. He was also linked to a separate cocaine haul of more than 1,300 kg in Delhi in October 2024, valued at around Rs 12,000 crore.
