# BWF World Championships return to India after 17 years

India hosts its second BWF World Championships starting August 17 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. A total of 377 players from 52 nations will compete in five disciplines. India has entered 17 shuttlers, including men's doubles stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The tournament runs through August 23. India last hosted the event in Hyderabad in 2009. PV Sindhu, with five World Championship medals including the 2019 gold, leads India's all-time medallists. Unlike the Olympics, the BWF Worlds give no cash prize, only medals and 14,500 ranking points.
