# New Orleans police officer faces 350 charges for overtime fraud

A senior New Orleans police officer, Brandon Coleman, has been arrested on 350 criminal charges for allegedly claiming fraudulent overtime worth over $111,000 between December 2024 and December 2025. Economictimes reports that investigators used cameras to show Coleman at home during claimed work hours. The charges include 325 counts of filing false public records, 23 counts of public payroll fraud, one count of malfeasance, and one count of theft. Coleman’s attorney, Bobby Hjortsberg, denies the allegations, calling him a hardworking officer and says physical evidence will prove he was working. The Louisiana Attorney General’s office has given a different fraud figure of $172,000. Coleman has been released on $17,000 bond and faces court on September 9, 2026.
