Currently, five SPS-promoted officers held IG posts, but four have already retired and the last, Mithilesh Kumar Shukla (2006 batch), retires on August 30. This leaves 16 direct-recruit IPS officers as the only IGs until new promotions occur in January 2027. Additionally, two Special Directors General, one Additional DG, and one IG retire on August 31, including Ajay Kumar Sharma (1989 batch), Ashutosh Roy (1994), A Sai Manohar (1995), and Mithilesh Shukla. No replacements have been announced for the Gwalior IG and FSL director posts vacated in July.
