Phillips told WWAY that a Range Rover driver followed her after she honked at the vehicle for stopping at a green light. She said the driver confronted her near the delivery address while holding what appeared to be a wooden bat, then struck her. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify the vehicle and occupants. No arrest has been announced. Phillips underwent surgery at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She said she drove herself to hospital after regaining consciousness and finding the suspect had left. Sheriff Christopher Thomas urged motorists not to confront aggressive drivers.
