# Nothing Phone 3 gets Android 17 with Nothing OS 5 beta 2026-08-26T11:42:09+00:00 | Technology | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet (2 source reports) Nothing has released the public beta of Nothing OS 5, based on Android 17, for the Nothing Phone 3. The update brings a tweaked user interface with a new Geist font, contextual notification animations, and colour-accented widgets that change with the wallpaper. The Gallery app now sorts photos by date or recency, and a new widget tracks time spent away from the phone. The stable release is expected around mid-October, according to India Today. The OS also includes an on-device AI Essential Apps tool and an improved Quick Share with QR code generation. Separately, the Nothing Phone 3 is available at its lowest price on Amazon: Rs 50,999, down from the launch price of Rs 79,999, with an additional Rs 1,529 cashback for Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card holders, bringing the effective price to Rs 49,470. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Both India Today reports are neutral, focusing on product features and pricing with no political or ideological slant. The first report leads with the software update and beta availability, treating the price cut as a secondary market reality. The second report leads with the discount, framing the device as affordable despite rising industry prices. Neither report speculates on market impact or consumer sentiment. The balanced reading is that Nothing is using a software push and aggressive pricing to sustain interest in a year-old flagship. The key date is mid-October for the stable OS rollout. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - indiatoday.in (neutral report) Focuses on software features and beta release, no political angle - indiatoday.in (2) (neutral report) Leads with price drop and discount details, no political angle This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
