# NPDCL told to remove 32 poles from Kothagudem forest

The Forest Department has ordered NPDCL to remove 32 electric poles erected without permission in the Bangaruchelaka reserve forest in Kothagudem district. Forest range officer P Kanakamma issued a notice to the power utility, warning of legal action if the poles are not removed. The poles, installed in the Chatakonda wildlife management area under Kinnerasani division, fall within a wildlife sanctuary. Non-forest activities there require prior approval from the National Wildlife Board, the FRO said. NPDCL officials claim they had the necessary clearances and that the poles were put up to serve farmers in the area.
